Prepared For Flight Part II

I did it! Migraines, tornadoes and all I managed to carve out some time for me and I feel great.

What’d I do? Well, it started with a dash of color. I pushed my regular rotation of heather greys, oatmeals, assorted beiges and taupes to the rear of the closet. I even threw away a few pieces that were a waste of laundry detergent and electricity; you know the ones. If you’re wearing them now, when you take ‘em off, throw ‘em out! You’ll be glad you did.

That was it for day one. It was a seemingly effortless change, but I felt refreshed in my bright pink tee and yoga pants; brighter colors, brighter mood. Comfort and function do not have to mean drab!

Next, I got dressed again, even on migraine Monday. I was comfortable, but I was dressed, and it did not involve denim or sweats. I donned a fitted tee and a pair of cotton trousers. Simple, comfortable, stylish. Everyday won’t be a feels good day, but it can still be a looks good day. Honestly, I think being cute took some of the edge off the headache, just a little.

Mid-week tornadoes put the kibosh on anything too fancy but I used the time to get in a work out, give myself a facial, mani, pedi and cook up something tasty and nutritious. Did I mention it also freezes well? Expert planning on my part, after the weather let up I was ahead of the game!

By week’s end, I was full-faced and ready to step out. [See before and after pic]. I had lunch and an adult beverage with a friend, returned home to teach and wrap up some housework all whilst looking hot!

I know this isn’t always possible, but engaging the challenge this week reminded me of the value of taking just 5 extra minutes for myself. It reminded me that the many hats I wear go quite swimmingly with a hint of lip tint and a skirt every now and again! What have you done for you lately?

Looking good Tameka. You’re right about the affects of taking a little extra time for self. I wasn’t as successful in doing that the entire week, but I did have a couple of good days where I cleanser and nourished my skin like I should be doing everyday, broke bread with friends, and rocked and photographed 1 pair of my 5 Pretty in Peace dangles =). Needless to say, I am always a work in progress, even when it comes to “me time”.

Good for you! Working from Home has made me all too comfortable not getting dressed in the morning. And truthfully, I sometimes wait until later in the day to even shower. But I have recently started working on that- showering every morning and getting dressed in clothes that I don’t usually sleep in.

BTW- I love your skirt! Absolutely love it.

A little effort does go a long way huh! I actually took the time to pluck and taper my eyebrows this week….can we say wow! I don’t look like a cave woman anymore! I absolutely loved your skirt, you looked beautiful!
